Each event is a pebble in a river
Right after I finished my education, the communication industry was hit hard, resulting in a multitude of candidates for a handful of jobs in that sector. After a number of temporary jobs I landed at the press office of Philips Semiconductors in Eindhoven – the present NXP. This appeared to be the bull’s eye. I got to know the hightech market and the Business to Business environment was exactly what I was looking for. Those years I became acquainted with the practice of all branches of the communication field.
At the end of 1997, I switched to the agency side, working as account manager for the English advertising and PR agency Leopard International. Here I gained experience with project management. I worked both with professionals from the agency itself and external professionals. This constituted important benefits for the client. The team of professionals varied per client and even per order. This made sure that the right man was put in the right place. The team was flexible, motivated and because of the exchange of information it was transparent as well.
At the beginning of 2003, the opportunity arose to start my own business. Alas, I had to put these plans in the fridge until February 2007. A chronic gastro enteritis meant the start of a serious illness, reaching its worst between Easter and Ascension 2003. I underwent a number of surgeries and was kept in a coma for some time. Recovery was slow. I got to know our society from quite another perspective and I realised the importance of taking control when and as long as you can.
Early 2006 I was called by a client for whom I had worked as account manager. I was given the opportunity to manage two internet newsletters. The moment I started this project, the idea took shape that finally led to the current setup of Op het Klein Eind.
Each event is a pebble in a river that eventually changes that river’s course. With OhKE managing communications the river takes a new turn and flows along.
